Owyhee blue opal

Teardrop shaped stones make me think of raindrops, so how better to show them off than with their own cloud?

this nice sized Owyhee blue opal has a substantial thundercloud over its head. I’ve intentionally left the cloud rather rustic in finish, the better to show the oxidation added to set off the pale blue stone. This opal doesn’t have the “fire” I associate with Australian opals. Rather it’s almost porcelain in appearance. Very pretty and soft. 

The stone itself is 1 3/8” long and the entire pendant is over 2 1/2”. The pendant comes with a 20” sterling silver box chain and is gift boxed.
